Controller. “Thorn”, a nonprofit benefit corporation located at 222 N. Pacific Coast Highway, 10th Floor, El Segundo, 90245, will be the controller for the personal data processed through this Survey.
Personal Data We Collect. We collect personal data that you provide to us, by participating in the Survey, such as: your full name, email address, name of your employer, country, and your responses in the Survey (“Data”). Please note that you are not obliged to provide such information, however the requested information is necessary to participate in the Survey, otherwise we cannot successfully perform the Survey.

Legal Basis for the Survey. Thorn processes Data based on your consent.
How We Use the Data. We use collected Data:
- to host and deploy the Survey,
- to anonymize the Data and to aggregate responses by sector,
- to examine trends based on the Data,
- to invite follow up conversations with respondents who wish to dive deeper into initial survey responses, and
- to use anonymized quotes from the survey in the produced report, categorize quotes by sector and region and publicize the report.
Period of storage. Data collected through the Survey will be deleted at the latest 3 years after publication.
Categories of Recipients of Personal Data. Thorn may share the Data internally (e.g., with members of Thorn contributing to the project), as necessary for the Survey. In addition, the following recipients are involved in the processing of the Data:
- Service providers (e.g., Qualtrics LLC). These recipients receive Data as processors and are then strictly bound by our instruction when processing the Data.
- Partners (WeProtect). This recipient receives Data as an independent controller.
- Public authorities, e.g., prosecutors and courts may also be recipients of Data to the extent legally required and permitted.
International Data Transfer. The Data may also be processed in countries outside the region where you are located (e. g., the European Union) and where the data protection level may not be equivalent to the region where you are located (e.g., transfer in the US). In these cases, Thorn will implement adequate measures (e.g., EU standard contractual clauses) as regards to recipients of your Data that are located in countries that do not provide an adequate level of data protection. Children’s Privacy. This Survey is intended for adults and is not directed to people under the age of 21. If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child under the age of 21 has entered personal information on this Survey without your consent, you may alert us at privacy@wearethorn.org and we will take the appropriate steps to delete the information.
Data Security. Although we use safeguards designed to improve security, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot guarantee that the information that you provide to us will not be accessed, viewed, altered, disclosed, or destroyed by unauthorized persons.
Your Rights. In the event, that we process personal data from you, you will have the following rights:
- Right of access to personal data,
- Right to rectification and completion of personal data,
- Right to erasure of personal data,
- Right to restriction of processing,
- Right to data portability, and
- Right to object to processing.
You can withdraw your consent to the processing of Data at any time. Please note that the withdrawal is only effective for the future. Processing that took place before the withdrawal is not affected.
